Residential Support Professional

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; must have phone accessibility, valid driver’s license and adequate transportation on site and available to transport individuals; ability to work with adults with varied clinical diagnosis including cognitive, developmental, mental health, behavioral and/or physical disabilities; experience in mental health, special education, or other related service preferred; ability to provide total physical care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals; ability to utilize behavior management techniques; demonstrated capability in the areas of time management, initiative, motivation, reliability; proficient writing skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and support individual participation in recreational, social, spiritual, and leisure activities within individuals respective home and in the community;
  • Provide support to individuals to develop and sustain varied and meaningful relationships with family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers;
  • Transport and accompany individual(s) on excursions, activities and appointments;
  • Promote wellness activities on a regular basis;
  • Assist in the implementation of goals illustrated in the individuals respective service plans;
  • Adhere to responsibilities as a mandated reporter under state guidelines.
  • Acquire and maintain certification in all program-mandated training courses;
  • Adhere to the policies, procedures and regulatory requirements of CMHS;
  • Participate as an active team member of the CMHS system including: attend staff/team meetings and in-service trainings;
  • Observe, report and document medical and health needs of individuals and comply with Medication Certification Administration standards;
  • Perform reasonable maintenance of interior and exterior of residence and maintain cleanliness of agency vehicle;
  • Assist individuals in performing routine housekeeping duties including but not limited to: vacuuming; dusting; changing linens; sanitizing kitchen and bathrooms; washing floors; and the snow shoveling of access walkways of the residences as needed; If the individual is unable to perform such tasks, the employee shall be responsible.
  • Serve as a positive role model in areas such as appearance, behavior, and community interaction;
  • Provide support with all aspects and activities of daily living including the areas of health and hygiene (i.e. toileting, bathing, shaving), functional transfers, meal preparation and funds management (as indicated);
  • Other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and management.
